Backend Cloud Developer

We are currently recruiting for a Backend Cloud Infrastructure as Code Developer to work on a hybrid basis, two days per week from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home. Occasional travel to meetings in other UK locations may also be a requirement. 

This externally funded role is key to defining & delivering solutions to a number of strategic industry data projects & systems, and will be an important part of delivering digital & data solutions for the agricultural industry. We are looking for a skilled and experienced hands-on cloud IaC specialist and backend developer who can work within our technical delivery team, and with external technical stakeholders, to deliver robust cross-industry digital & data solutions. You will work with our teams to develop and implement elements of a key strategic data system, as well as assuring other delivery elements delivered by 3rd parties.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the technical delivery team, delivering a high profile AHDB & Industry data project
  • Develop and implement tooling, IaC and backend services, initially targeted around the one or two key cross-industry digital projects, that aligns with the organisations overall goals and objectives
  • Work with wider teams to refine requirements, designs & delivery approaches
  • Participate in internal technical workshops and external technical stakeholder working groups
  • Contribute to a comprehensive requirement set and set of design artefacts
  • Be a key part of a cultural shift towards improved collaboration and codesign across the industry

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or significant experience in similar roles
  • Proven track record of successfully developing IaC and backend application services
  • Experience of implementing solutions across more than one commercial cloud provider, ideally AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of implementing tooling for Infrastructure as Code deployments
  • Experience in assuring elements of technical delivery by 3rd party delivery partners along with:
    • API integrations & authentication
    • Federated data systems (Data-Web / Data-Mesh)
    • Legacy systems integrations
    • Multi-cloud approaches, especially where federated IAM is a requirement
    • Python, Terraform, Cloud-Formation, Ansible, Powershell, C#, ASP .NET, SQL, noSQL, Blob/S3, MongoDB, Pipeline Integration (testing & security), App Insights, Azure DevOps, Git, Infrastructure for High Availability Systems
    • Dockerand Kubernetes
    • Federated data systems (Data-Web / Data-Mesh)
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
