Head of Engagement - Beef & Lamb Sector

AHDB are currently recruiting for a pivotal role as Head of Engagement for our Beef & Lamb sector, working across England. This key position has responsibility for the development and delivery of engagement activities across the sector, whilst ensuring effective links with other functions and departments of AHDB to ensure successful delivery and value for levy payers.

We are looking for expertise in the Beef & Lamb sector to lead a field-based team. A proven leader with the ability to collaborate and engage with key stakeholders is essential. Flexibility to travel across England is also a key requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for activities covering knowledge exchange and engagement within the Beef & Lamb sector
  • Working with Beef & Lamb Sector Director and Beef & Lamb Sector Council to ensure successful delivery of the sector strategy, whilst maintaining and developing partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Provide operational and line management of a field-based team, including direct line management of senior engagement staff
  • Work with the Sector Director and relevant functional directors to ensure the engagement team are integrated across the organisation
  • Use business analysis/insights, levy data and own networks to maintain knowledge and understanding of levy payer/stakeholder/industry opportunities and challenges
  • Champion cross sector working & collaboration to seek new opportunities
  • Support the Sector Director with a strong understanding of the industry landscape and its challenges, championing the sector externally and internally whilst always ensuring high level of professional delivery
  • Develop and maintain a strong industry profile and connection within the sector
  • Ensure that the value of AHDB activity is clearly communicated to the industry

Essential Criteria

  • Significant experience working with and understanding of key aspects of the Beef & Lamb industry, and hold a relevant degree/qualification in agriculture 
  • Experienced leader with a proven track record of building team capability and confidence
  • Experience of working with key industry stakeholders and commercial organisations to develop opportunities and critical partnerships
  • Skilled communicator with extensive experience of writing and public speaking
  • Ability to think strategically and have experience of developing and delivering strategic plans
  • Effective networker and building key relationships
  • Committed team player and self-motivated
  • Experience of managing significant budgets to high levels of governance
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel throughout England
